An American flag that was part of the Holiday Light Show at Nay Aug Park from Nov. 22 through Monday will remain up and lit all year long, city recreation authority Chairman Bob Gattens said Wednesday.

The flag display, which apparently had not been used for several years, was retrieved from storage and erected once again, near the former zoo, for the seasonal light show.

While the many Christmas-themed light displays now go back into storage, the flag will stay put. “It’s a nice flag. It looks great,” Gattens said. “We’re going to leave it up year-round. It’s going to be a permanent fixture.”
