This year, the West Pittston Library wants to celebrate with you on Fat Tuesday and make it one to remember. The celebration will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, and will be jam packed with a little bit of something for absolutely everybody. There will be jazz music for the adults to enjoy while the kids create their own masks and beaded necklaces, decorate their own parade float, play musical king crowns, throw beads and sample some New Orleans cuisine. And while you’re having fun you will even learn a little bit about the history of Mardi Gras. And of course it would not be Mardi Gras without a parade. The night will end with everyone showing off the crafts they made with a parade of floats! All you’ll need to do is bring a shoebox to decorate.
Hughestown Hose Company’s annual Ash Wednesday and Lent homemade pizza and clam chowder takeout dinner is right around the corner. Food can be picked up between noon and 6 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, and every Friday during Lent by going to the firehouse and ringing the doorbell on the marked doors.
