Lackawanna County’s public bus service will resume Saturday service March 20.
The County of Lackawanna Transit System suspended Saturday runs as of Feb. 6 because of a shortage of drivers caused by COVID-19 and a struggle to replace retired drivers.
“We are thrilled to be able to return to full service again and we appreciate the patience our passengers have shown during this past month,” COLTS Executive Director Bob Fiume said in a statement “We unfortunately are in an unprecedented time, and COVID is an equal opportunity offender. Fortunately, we have turned a corner with drivers returning and new operators have been hired and are being trained.”
The Lackawanna Transit Center customer service desk will reopen March 15 with regular hours — 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
