A new program will allow people to temporarily call an American flag in Pottsville their own.
City Administrator Thomas A. Palamar announced the formation of the city’s Adopt a Flag program at Monday’s virtual council meeting. For $30, residents, businesses, schools and community organizations can adopt one of 76 American flags from the city from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. They will be retired on Veterans Day.
“Those flags, in conjunction with our Hometown Hero banners, remind our residents of our history, national pride and the sacrifices that a lot of people have made for us to live in this great country,” he said, adding there is already interest in the program.
The application to participate will be available in Palamar’s office and on the city website.
